We have an exciting new project to share which is part of the 250 year celebration of Dorothy Wordsworth.
We are looking for a writer, someone who is comfortable interacting with primary school aged children (helping to draw stories out of them).
The purpose of this project is to reflect, to notice experiences and to then write about them. The first project ‘Dear Diary’ which will be kick starting in January is diary related. It does not have to be about nature (as many of the projects relating to dorothy are), it just needs to get the children reflecting on recent events, things they have done, christmas day, days off school due to covid etc. We would like to know the childrens thoughts on writing, is writing a diary pointless to them now there are social media platforms like TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram to document their lives? Do they know if their grand parents write a diary, or maybe their mum and dad do?
To deliver 3 x 2 hour creative writing workshops for children responding to three Dorothy-inspired themes: ‘Dear Diary’ (January 2022), ‘Muddy and Magnificent (outdoor activity)’ (April 2022), and ‘Nature Notes’ (May 2022). The person will also contribute to curating a reading event in July 2022 and digital archive of the work produced by the children. The exact dates are to be confirmed.
