Brave New Word accepting short pieces for ‘Break-Up Britain’

Brave New Word is currently accepting submissions for its next event on 18 September 2016 on the theme of ‘Break-Up Britain’.

Brave New Word is a platform and community for writers, actors and directors to showcase, discuss and experiment with new work. They are especially inclusive of work which has urgency or importance, works outside traditional parameters, and takes risk. They also particularly encourage first-time writers.

Theme: In their own words:

“We are looking for pieces for September’s event, BREAK-UP BRITAIN, exploring the personal, the political (and the downright petty) art of the break-up as the country prepares for its ‘messy divorce’ from the EU. We would love to see this interpreted and reimagined in as many ways as possible. Please be aware that we will not be accepting entries for this event on any other theme.”

What to submit:

  • Feel free to submit pieces of any form, including drama, poetry, songs, short films and prose.
  • Keep pieces to 5 minutes in length.
  • Keep characters to 5 maximum

How to apply: Send all submissions to bravenewwordfest@gmail.com in either Word or PDF format and as an email attachment. Please make the subject of your email ‘Break-up Britain Submission’. Please submit scripts in clear, standardised formatting.

Deadline: 5 September 2016 at 9am
