My Aim is True is a script in hand new writing night which takes inspiration from the songs of Elvis Costello from Breakwater Theatre.
There will be an audience vote for the best play of the night and the winning playwright will receive £50.
Breakwater, which is looking for new writing for the stage in North East Lincolnshire. says: “Find a song or title from Elvis’s enormous back catalogue and use it as the inspiration for your writing. Take it where you may. You are not required to turn the lyrics into a stage play, or anything like that.
“We may wish to advise certain changes in order to stage your writing but will seek to work collaboratively with the writer at every turn.”
Breakwater is looking to re-launch its new writing nights in the near future and will announce a date and venue as soon as possible.
What to submit:
- Plays should run for 15 -20 minutes.
- No more than four actors. There will be limited sound and lights dependent on where the night is staged.
- Props should be limited and easy to source unless you are able to provide them yourself.
