Opportunities – Pick of the Week: Doughnut Productions accepting submissions for new writing night on ‘the seven deadly sins’

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: Doughnut Productions accepting submissions for new writing night on ‘the seven deadly sins’

Description: Doughnut Productions are looking for plays of no longer than 15 minutes for a new writing night which will take place at the Cockpit Theatre  in Marylebone in  September 2017. They are looking for plays with no more than 4 characters and they must be on the theme of the ‘seven deadly sins’.

What’s so great about it? Well, Doughnut Productions have already got one successful new writing night under their belt – their event ‘Trapped’ was a sell out show.; and this time, they’re going even bigger with three performances. Not only that, but Doughnut Productions work in a really unique way: using swivel chairs, they put their audience at the heart of the action, with the aim of obliterating the fourth wall (before applying, check the concept out in full on their website) That paired with the juicy theme of ‘the seven deadly sins’ makes for a really interesting playwriting opportunity and we reckon, if you’ve got time to write something great in the next couple of weeks (the deadline is 1 April) you should definitely give it a go!
