About the Project

A major research and development project, funded by Arts Council England and Hull City Council. Co-commissioned by Back To Ours and Stratford Circus. In partnership with Leeds Playhouse, Stratford Circus, Sheffield Theatres, Gig Buddies Mencap and Danny’s Dream. Supported by Hull Truck Theatre.

Working with over 1000 young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities from across the UK, we will explore, access, and evaluate the impact of autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) in collaboration with international experts, researchers, artists and carers from the UK, US and Singapore.

Following an in-depth research period, a development project will launch in response to the data collated to create a brand-new multi-sensory theatre production for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities, integrating ASMR.
