Film London: Shakespeare’s Sister – scheme for female filmmakers

Shakespeare’s Sister  is a short film initiative which aims to help address the gender imbalance in film by giving female filmmakers funding and support to showcase their talent.

Two filmmaking teams will be awarded £15,000 in production funding. In addition to support and development from Film London, the selected filmmakers will also benefit from mentoring from Film4 and a year’s membership to Women in Film & TV. The scheme is open to applications from teams of female writers, directors and producers based in the UK.

The two films will form a key part of the work Film London is commissioning to commemorate 400 years of Shakespeare, forming part of the global celebrations of the playwright’s life, work and legacy in 2016.
