First Draft Theatre seeking 10-30 min submissions for Summer Showers at the Hope Theatre

First Draft Theatre are looking for submissions of short plays 10 – 30 minutes in length for the relaunch of FIRST DRAFT this August, Summer Showers.

Summer Showers will be produced at The Hope Theatre, a 50-seat venue above the world famous Hope and Anchor pub on Islington’s Upper Street in London.

If you are a writer and want to try out some new material then get in touch! If selected, your writing will be directed by Matthew Parker and will be rehearsed with a professional cast over three days to produce two scratch performances. With just three rehearsal days, First Draft aims to create the ultimate ‘scratch’ performance.

About First Draft:  First Draft affords the opportunity for writers to see their idea at an early stage, to receive feedback, to invite industry professionals and review the work for further development on the London fringe and beyond. For the audience the result is an exciting, energetic and compelling piece of fresh work and a glimpse into the genesis of a theatrical idea. First Draft has produced over 20 productions since 2010, including the annual short play festival, April Showers which inspired Summer Showers.

What to submit:  The writing MUST be your original material and it cannot have been previously produced, scratch or otherwise.  They can only except a maximum of 3 play submissions from each writer

How to apply:  Please send your submissions to contact@firstdrafttheatre.com.

Deadline: Thursday 30 July 2015
