Perhaps you’ve had feedback but aren’t sure what to do with it. Maybe you know there are problems with the structure, characters or story, but you can’t see the solutions. Or perhaps the play has simply been sitting in a drawer because you don’t know where to begin.
This summer, we’re offering an intensive 1:1 programme for writers who want to make real, meaningful progress on their draft of a play. Places are limited to ensure everyone gets support.
The Summer Redraft Intensive is a focused period of one-to-one dramaturgy designed to help you step back from your current draft, identify what the play really needs and work towards a stronger new version.
What’s included?
A full read of your current draft
Your play will be read in full, and detailed feedback notes will be prepared.
A one-to-one dramaturgy session (Zoom)
We’ll dig into your play together, exploring what’s working, what needs development and where to focus your energy during the redraft.
Your own personalised redrafting roadmap
After our session, you’ll receive a clear, bespoke plan for your redraft, so you’re not left with a mountain of feedback and no idea where to start. The plan will include a list of actionable steps which you can work through with a clear purpose.
Support while you redraft
As you work through your new draft, you’ll have regular opportunities to check in, ask questions and work through any problems that arise.
A second full read of your revised play
Once you’ve taken a few weeks to complete your redraft, we’ll read the new version in full, looking at what has changed, what is now working more effectively and what the play may still need in order to get it polished up.
A 60-minute follow-up dramaturgy session (Zoom)
We’ll discuss the new draft, look at how far the play has come and identify the next steps for the work.
Who’s it for?
This is for writers of any stage in their development who want to commit to redrafting a play. As the work is 1:1, the timings are flexible, so it works particularly well if you want to take your writing on your summer travels, armed with a plan and a detailed set of notes!
