This 5-week intensive playwriting course is designed to help you finally move from idea to action. Whether you’re starting with a vague concept, a character, a theme or a half-finished draft, you’ll be guided through the process of planning and developing your play in a supportive and structured environment.
Across the sessions, you’ll learn how to:
- Develop strong ideas for the stage
- Build compelling characters and dramatic conflict
- Shape the structure of your play
- Create a clear writing plan
- Stay accountable and keep writing
Weekly homework and writing exercises will help you make consistent progress between sessions, so you’re always moving your play forward.
At the end of the course, each participant will receive an individual 1 hour tutorial with course leader, Kimberley Andrews, discuss their work, tackle challenges and ensure they are on track to continue writing their play with confidence.

Week 3: Shaping scenes
Week 4: Creating compelling characters
Week 5: Writing your best dialogue
Individual tutorials: discuss your ideas, get constructive feedback, and make sure you have a watertight plan for writing your play!
