Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Old Vic 12
Description: The Old Vic 12 is now offering its second year of placements to emerging creatives – including 3 playwrights. The selected writers will receive a £5,000 commission to create a 708 minute new play while on attachment with the theatre.
What’s so great about it? It’s always brilliant to get paid to write, but that’s only half the story. Members of the Old Vic 12 will have the opportunity to collaborate with other up-and-coming theatremakers – including directors and producers, as well as a composer, movement director, and designer. You’ll get the opportunity to hear your work aloud, press night invites, and access (based on availability) to the Old Vic Workrooms during your time on attachment. (They’ll also be running live workshops in advance of the deadline, in case you want to pick up some application pointers.) This is an opportunity not to pass up, so be sure to get your application in by 30 August!
