Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Pub Theatre Festival Seeking Submissions from Emerging Theatre Makers
Description: Theatrefullstop have teamed up with both Etcetera Theatre and Lion and Unicorn Theatre to present the first Pub Theatre Festival to be staged in April 2017. The aim is to give current drama school and university students, as well as graduates the opportunity to stage their works to a paying audience. The festival will take place over 2 weekends in April (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and will allow for groups with a max of 3 performers to showcase 30 minutes of work. 5 acts will perform each evening, allowing for 15 acts in total to take part at each venue.
What’s so great about it? We love a bit of Pub Theatre here at LPB and we think this festival is a great way to get your work on stage and build relationships with lots of likeminded people – plus it sounds like lots of fun! In addition to that both the Etcetera Theatre and the Lion & Unicorn are well established venues which would be brilliant to work in and valuable for your CV. You’ll need to send your script in by email and all they ask is that you have a finalised piece rather than work in progress.
