Pensive Federation seeking submissions for Significant Other Festival

The Pensive Federation will be launching  The Significant Other Festival, an original new writing festival in the north at the Oldham Coliseum.

  • The performances will take place on Saturday May 14th 2016.
  • 10 x 10 minute plays, 10 writers, 10 directors, 20 actors – all in 10 days
  • 10 original works will be created around the theme “significant other”.

Eligibility:  There is no age limit and the festival is open to anyone and everyone who wants to apply. This is a chance to be a part of something exciting, inclusive and challenging.

A a non profit company, they are seeking volunteers. Applications from all ages, abilities and experience are welcome.

Before applying you must be available on the following dates:

  • Sunday 24th April 2016 for Writer Interviews
  • Inspiration Session Wednesday 4th May 2016

How it works:  If you are chosen for the project, you will be asked to write a 10 minute play for 2 actors in the course of 5 days (4th May – 9th May 2016 ). The theme is the “significant other” however there will be other elements and limitations which will be allocated at the Inspiration Session. The play must be written for 2 actors – gender and age will be determined at the Inspiration Session on 4th May. During the 5 days of writing, you will be asked to submit your writing as you proceed. Please note that there will be some feedback and dramaturgy required during your process with the creative team.

What to submit:  Please send an excerpt of a piece of your writing (plays are preferred, maximum 4 pages) as well as a cover letter/statement (maximum 1 page) with details as to why you would like to be involved and if you have any previous theatrical experience. Please email this to with your name and the post you’re applying for in the subject line. (eg: John Smith_WRITER).
