Proper Job Theatre Company seeking playwright for H.G Wells adaptation (paid)

Proper Job Theatre Company are seeking an experienced script writer for a new adaptation ‘The Shape of Things to Come’ by H.G Wells. The chosen writer will work along side the company to develop a script loosely based on the novel, for one actor to perform.

This play will be directed and produced by Proper Job Theatre Company with rehearsals and a period of Research and Development taking place in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

Person specification:

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Developing individual monologues/stories for one person
  • Writing for theatre, particularly for work that has toured beyond London/Edinburgh Fringe
  • Working on mid scale touring productions
  • Working to tight deadlines
  • Managing own time

Fee: £1200

PLEASE NOTE: there will be 3 days of Research and Development from the 14th July to 16th. The successful candidate would need to be available for at least 2 of the 3 days. Although applications are accepted from anywhere in the UK, additional travel expenses to the north will not be covered and you may be required to attend extra meetings with the Artistic Director when necessary.
