Now in its fourth year, the International Playwriting Competition run by Trinity College London aims to encourage new writing for young performers and audiences around the world. The winning playwright in each category will be awarded a cash prize of £1,000, and will travel to London to see their play performed as part of Trinity’s International Festival of Playwriting and Performance. The best plays entered in the competition will be published in a collection of plays with international distribution.
Eligibility: The International Playwriting Competition is open to writers of any age, any level of experience and from any country. All plays must be written substantially or entirely in the English language.
What to submit: Writers can submit plays in two categories:
Plays for Young Performers: One-act plays suitable for performers aged 11 years and under
or
Plays for Teenage Audiences: One-act plays suitable for audiences aged between 12 and 16 years

What you pay: There are two entry categories, which have different fees:
- Entry with written feedback (£20 entry fee)
- Entry only with no written feedback (£10 entry fee)
What you get: The winning play in each category receives:
- Cash prize of £1,000
- Headline performance at the International Festival of Playwriting and Performance in London, May 2014 (including travel and accommodation for winning playwrights)
- Play to be published in a collection of the best plays from the competition
Up to six highly commended plays may receive a cash prize of £500 and publication in a collection of the best plays from the competition.
