The Department of English Literature and Creative Writing at Lancaster University is seeking to appoint two 0.6FTE Lectureships in Creative Writing. These are 12-month, fixed term appointments, to start 1 September 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. Creative Writing at Lancaster is 6th in the Times and Sunday Times and 9th in the Complete University Guide league tables and they wish to particularly encourage those with specialisms in distance learning, script writing, and poetry. One of the successful candidates will be needed to teach the second-year module CREW208: Writing Place and Landscape.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent teaching abilities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, be willing and able to give lectures and seminars, and have the potential to supervise postgraduate students. You should have existing publications appropriate to your specialism and the potential for future publication, performance or broadcast outputs, as well as coherent plans for grant applications. Your research should also be able to contribute to larger impact within society and culture through public engagement and professional networking activities. Applicants should note that teaching takes place in person, as do committee meetings, and as such there is the expectation to be present on campus for these commitments.
Their department is actively working to diversify its staff body and decolonise its curriculum, and they particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and/or Minority Ethnic Creative Writers and others with protected characteristics that are currently underrepresented in the department, such as LGBTQ+ and disabled applicants.
