London Lovecraft Playwrighting Competition now open

London Lovecraft Festival 2020 are calling for writers to submit a H.P. Lovecraft inspired play for a staged performance at the Drayton Arms in Kensington between the 19th and 25th April.

It can be a comedy, a drama, a heartfelt romance about Shoggoths falling in love, or a creepy work of fiction with Lovecraftian elements throughout.

This is a chance to embrace your weird and depraved mind!

What are the rules?

  • Between 30 and 50 minutes length
  • Suitable for 1-4 actors
  • Not previously performed
  • It must be clearly inspired by Lovecraft, either an adaptation of an HP Lovecraft work , an expansion of the mythos, or something about his life etc.

How to apply?

Send your scripts to:

  • With the subject heading ‘WRITING LOVECRAFT: title of your play’
  • The script must be in word or .pdf format.
    • Please include a title page, character list and page numbers in the script.
  • Your name, email address and contact telephone number.
  • Your agent’s details (if applicable).
  • Whether you will be able to attend the production in April of 2020 should your play be selected as the winner.
  • Where you heard about the competition.

Deadline: Midnight 1st March 2020
